The Cardiology Department is committed to providing the highest quality and cost-effective care to its patients. It also strives to sensitize the general public and society regarding various heart diseases by organizing community walks and running preventive clinics.
The cardiac diagnostic facilities offered here include:
*Electrocardiography (ECG)
*Holter ECG monitoring
*Ambulatory blood pressure measurement (ABPM)
*Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE)
*Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)
*Exercise tolerance test (ETT)
*CT-angiography.
Infrastructure: The Cardiology unit at MTI, MMC comprises a fully functional nine-bed coronary care unit (CCU), an eight-bed HDU and a thirteen-bed cardiology ward.
Training: The unit is accredited with CPSP for a postgraduate training program in adult cardiology for Trainee Medical Officers (TMOs). House officers, nursing, and BS Cardiology students are also given the required training.
Teaching and Research Activities: There is a regular program for teaching and research activities, including CPC, journal clubs, case presentations/discussions, and hands-on training sessions of ECHO/ECG arranged for the postgraduate trainees every week.
Quality Control: Quality control is maintained vigilantly to ensure good patient care. This is assured by double-checking the administration of all lifesaving drugs.
Future Plan: Soon, we will have a fully functional interventional and electrophysiological (EP) Cath Lab. In the future, we plan to develop an acardiac rehabilitation center.
